Situatie: u rekent verzendkosten nu handmatig uit. De ene collega rekent €6,95, de andere €7,50, en bij de vaste klant "vergeet" iedereen ze weleens. Foutgevoelig, inconsistent — en aan het eind van het jaar blijkt verzending een verliespost waarvan niemand precies weet hoe groot.
Verzendmethodes aanzetten
Ga naar Instellingen → Voorraad en vink onder Verzending de optie Verzendmethodes (Delivery Methods) aan. Daarna maakt u onder Voorraad → Configuratie → Verzendmethodes uw methodes aan — bijvoorbeeld "Standaard NL", "Express" en "Afhalen".
Drie manieren om te rekenen
Per verzendmethode kiest u hoe Odoo het tarief bepaalt:
- Vast tarief: altijd hetzelfde bedrag, met optioneel "gratis vanaf € x" — de klassieker "gratis verzending boven €75".
- Op basis van regels: staffels op gewicht, volume, aantal of orderbedrag. Bijvoorbeeld: tot 2 kg €4,95, tot 10 kg €6,95, daarboven €12,50.
- Via de vervoerder: een koppeling die live het tarief bij de vervoerder opvraagt.
Met Beschikbaarheid beperkt u een methode tot bepaalde landen of postcodes — handig als u de Waddeneilanden of buitenland anders wilt tariferen.
Zo komt het op de offerte
Op de verkooporder klikt u op Verzending toevoegen, kiest u de methode, en Odoo rekent het bedrag uit op basis van adres, gewicht en ordertotaal, en zet het als aparte regel op de offerte. In uw webshop kiest de klant de methode zelf bij het afrekenen en ziet die direct het juiste bedrag. Niemand hoeft meer iets uit het hoofd te rekenen.
Labels en track & trace erbij
Wilt u het helemaal afmaken? Odoo heeft standaardkoppelingen met onder meer Sendcloud, DHL, UPS en FedEx; via Sendcloud bereikt u ook PostNL en DPD. Bij het valideren van de levering wordt dan automatisch het verzendlabel aangemaakt en de track & trace-code naar de klant gemaild. Geen geknip en geplak meer tussen webshop, vervoerdersportaal en e-mail.
Tot slot
Praktische tip: gewichtsstaffels werken alleen als het veld Gewicht op uw producten is ingevuld. Loop dat eerst na (lijstweergave, kolom Gewicht erbij, en aanvullen maar) — anders rekent Odoo met 0 kg en betaalt ú de verzending. Situation: you calculate shipping costs manually. One colleague charges €6.95, another €7.50, and for the regular customer everyone occasionally "forgets" them. Error-prone, inconsistent — and at year end shipping turns out to be a loss item nobody can quite quantify.
Enabling delivery methods
Go to Settings → Inventory and, under Shipping, tick Delivery Methods. Then create your methods under Inventory → Configuration → Delivery Methods — for example "Standard NL", "Express" and "Pickup".
Three ways to calculate
For each delivery method you choose how Odoo determines the rate:
- Fixed price: always the same amount, optionally with "free above € x" — the classic "free shipping over €75".
- Based on rules: tiers on weight, volume, quantity or order amount. For example: up to 2 kg €4.95, up to 10 kg €6.95, above that €12.50.
- Through the carrier: a connector that fetches the live rate from the carrier.
With Availability you can restrict a method to certain countries or zip codes — useful if you want different rates for islands or international orders.
How it lands on the quotation
On the sales order, click Add shipping, pick the method, and Odoo calculates the amount based on address, weight and order total, adding it as a separate line on the quotation. In your webshop, the customer picks the method at checkout and immediately sees the correct amount. Nobody has to do mental arithmetic anymore.
Add labels and track & trace
Want to finish the job? Odoo ships with connectors for Sendcloud, DHL, UPS and FedEx, among others; through Sendcloud you also reach PostNL and DPD. When validating the delivery, the shipping label is created automatically and the track & trace code is emailed to the customer. No more copy-pasting between webshop, carrier portal and email.
Wrapping up
Practical tip: weight-based tiers only work if the Weight field is filled in on your products. Check that first (list view, add the Weight column, and start filling) — otherwise Odoo calculates with 0 kg and you end up paying for the shipping.
