Connecting an AI assistant to your Odoo sounds like something for later, but with an MCP connection it already works today. You ask Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor a question in plain language, and the assistant looks up the answer directly in your own Odoo data. No building reports, no setting filters. But what do you ask? Below are fifteen real-world examples, spread across sales, accounting, inventory and CRM.
Sales
- "Create a draft quote for customer X based on their previous order, but with 10% more units."
- "Which quotes have been open for more than two weeks without a response?"
- "What were my five best-selling products last quarter?"
- "Which customers ordered in August last year, but not yet this year?"
The first one in particular is a time saver: the assistant prepares a draft quote, you check it and send it.
Accounting
- "Which invoices have been outstanding for more than 30 days, sorted by amount?"
- "How much revenue have I invoiced this month compared with the same month last year?"
- "Which vendor bills are due this week?"
- "Give me a list of customers with an outstanding balance above 5,000 euros."
Handy just before the weekly round of debtor calls: you have the list in seconds, including amounts and due dates.
Inventory
- "Which products are below their minimum stock level?"
- "How many units of product Y do I have in stock, and how many of those are already reserved?"
- "Which deliveries are scheduled for tomorrow?"
- "Which products have had no movement at all for six months?"
That last question is secretly the most interesting one: slow-moving stock is tied-up capital, and hardly anyone ever looks at it.
CRM
- "Which leads have had no scheduled activity for two weeks?"
- "Summarise the log notes for customer Z before I call them."
- "Which opportunities in my pipeline have an expected closing date in the past?"
The summarising especially is a relief: instead of scrolling back through ten notes, you get three sentences on where the conversation ended last time.
How such a connection works
The link between your AI assistant and Odoo is called MCP (Model Context Protocol). DAADit Group offers a free hosted MCP server that lets you connect Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor to your own Odoo environment in a few minutes, without installing anything yourself. You decide which permissions the assistant gets; read-only is a perfectly good start. You can read how this works technically in our earlier article on MCP servers, and you can sign up directly via daadit.group/my/mcp.
Praktische tip
Start with read-only questions from this list and keep track for a week of which questions you ask most often. Those recurring questions are your best candidates for turning into fixed routines, for example the same debtor and stock check every Monday morning. That way the assistant grows with how you work, rather than the other way round.
