Maakt u een samengesteld product — zeg een machine met tientallen subcomponenten — en houdt u dat bij in Excel? Dan weet u hoe snel het misgaat: de voorraad klopt niet meer, de kostprijs is een gok en inkoop bestelt net dat ene onderdeel te laat. Een goed ingerichte stuklijst (BOM) in Odoo lost dat in één keer op voor productie, inkoop én kostprijs.
Een stuklijst aanmaken
Installeer eerst de app Manufacturing. Ga daarna naar Productie → Producten → Stuklijsten en maak een nieuwe BOM aan:
- Kies het eindproduct en de hoeveelheid waarvoor de stuklijst geldt (meestal 1 stuk).
- Voeg de componenten toe met hun hoeveelheden — bijvoorbeeld 1x frame, 4x wiel, 12x bout M8.
- Voeg optioneel bewerkingen (routings) toe, zodat Odoo werkorders aanmaakt per werkplek: zagen, lassen, assembleren.
Maakt u vervolgens een productieorder, dan reserveert Odoo automatisch de componenten uit voorraad en boekt ze af zodra de order gereed is. De kostprijs van het eindproduct wordt opgebouwd uit de componentkosten plus eventuele bewerkingstijd.
Kit-BOM's: samenstellen zonder te produceren
Niet alles wat u samengesteld verkoopt, produceert u ook echt. Denk aan een 'starterspakket' van bestaande artikelen: een laptop met tas, muis en dockingstation. Gebruik daarvoor een Kit-BOM. U hoeft dan geen productieorder aan te maken — Odoo splitst het kit bij het picken automatisch in zijn componenten. Op de pakbon staan de losse onderdelen, op de factuur gewoon het pakket.
Varianten en versies
Verkoopt u hetzelfde product in meerdere uitvoeringen? Met één BOM en de kolom 'Toepassen op varianten' bepaalt u per component voor welke variant hij meetelt. Zo voorkomt u drie bijna-identieke stuklijsten die u apart moet onderhouden. Werkt u in Odoo 17 of hoger, kijk dan ook naar ECO's (Engineering Change Orders) in de PLM-app om BOM-wijzigingen gecontroleerd door te voeren.

Praktische tip: controleer na het aanmaken van een BOM altijd het overzicht Structuur & kosten (de knop rechtsboven op de stuklijst). Do you build an assembled product — say a machine with dozens of subcomponents — and track it in Excel? Then you know how quickly things go wrong: stock levels drift, the cost price becomes a guess, and purchasing orders that one critical part just too late. A well-built bill of materials (BOM) in Odoo fixes this in one go for production, purchasing and costing.
Creating a bill of materials
First install the Manufacturing app. Then go to Manufacturing → Products → Bills of Materials and create a new BOM:
- Choose the finished product and the quantity the BOM applies to (usually 1 unit).
- Add the components with their quantities — for example 1x frame, 4x wheel, 12x M8 bolt.
- Optionally add operations (routings) so Odoo creates work orders per work centre: cutting, welding, assembly.
When you then create a manufacturing order, Odoo automatically reserves the components from stock and books them out once the order is done. The cost of the finished product is built up from component costs plus any operation time.
Kit BOMs: bundling without manufacturing
Not everything you sell as a bundle is actually manufactured. Think of a 'starter pack' of existing items: a laptop with a bag, mouse and docking station. Use a Kit BOM for that. No manufacturing order is needed — Odoo splits the kit into its components automatically during picking. The delivery slip shows the individual parts; the invoice simply shows the pack.
Variants and versions
Selling the same product in several configurations? With one BOM and the 'Apply on variants' column, you decide per component which variant it counts for. That saves you from maintaining three nearly identical BOMs. On Odoo 17 or later, also look at ECOs (Engineering Change Orders) in the PLM app to roll out BOM changes in a controlled way.
Wrapping up
Practical tip: after creating a BOM, always open the Structure & Cost report (the button at the top right of the BOM form).
