Drie soorten suggesties in Odoo
Uw toekomstige zelf is u dankbaar.
Your online store is running and orders are coming in — but almost every order contains exactly one product. A pity, because the customer buying a laptop almost certainly needs a bag, a mouse or a docking station too. Amazon earns a serious share of its revenue with "frequently bought together". In Odoo you can set up that same mechanism in an afternoon, no external module required.
Three types of suggestions in Odoo
Out of the box, Odoo offers three ways to promote additional products, each at its own point in the buying journey:
- Alternative Products — appear at the bottom of the product page as comparable alternatives. Think of the pricier variant with more memory: classic upselling.
- Accessory Products — appear on the cart page, right before checkout. Perfect for matching accessories such as a sleeve or cable: cross-selling at the exact moment the customer is already in a buying mood.
- Optional Products — appear in the pop-up when the customer adds a product to the cart, for example an extended warranty.
How to set it up
Go to Website → eCommerce → Products and open a product. On the Sales tab you will find the Upsell & Cross-Sell section containing the three fields above. Select the products you want and save — the suggestions are live on your website immediately. For dozens of products at once, an import via Favorites → Import records is faster: one spreadsheet with product names and their linked accessories, and you are done.
Large catalog? Work with tags
A wholesaler with 800 items does not want to maintain fifty relations per product. Use product tags as your anchor instead. One tag 'laptop-accessories' on fifty accessories, and that same selection as an accessory relation on all laptops. When your assortment changes, you only update the tag instead of fifty product records. Your future self will thank you.
Finally: start small and measure
Practical tip: first link only your ten best-selling products to two or three logical accessories each, and after a month check the results under Website → Reporting → eCommerce. That is usually enough proof to tackle the rest of the catalog. Need help with the setup or a smart import? Contact DAADit Group — we are happy to think along with you.
