Quality checks on shipments and receipts
DAADit Group, Nick

Situation: goods arrive, get ticked off and disappear onto the shelves — without anyone looking at them. The result is predictable: a scratch, wrong size or defect is only noticed when the end customer calls. And then you've lost not just the product, but a bit of your reputation too.

The Quality app: checks at the right moment

Install the Quality app via Apps. With it, you build in control points (Quality Control Points) at exactly the places where it matters: on receipt, during manufacturing or before delivery. The item can only move on once an employee has set the check to Pass.

Creating a control point

  1. Go to Quality → Quality Control → Control Points and click New.
  2. Choose the product or product category — for example all 'Electronic components'.
  3. Choose the operation: Receipts, Manufacturing or Deliveries.
  4. Choose the type of check: a simple Instructions ('check packaging for transport damage'), a Measure with tolerance (for example 99.5–100.5 mm), or Take a Picture as evidence.
  5. Optionally set up sampling: an importer of light fittings doesn't need to open every box; one in ten is often enough.

When things go wrong: Quality Alerts

If a check fails, you create a Quality Alert with a single click. It lands on a kanban board with the quality manager, complete with photo, lot number and supplier. Your buyer immediately has a file in hand for the conversation with that supplier — 'third time this month' is a stronger argument with evidence attached.

Praktische tip

Don't start by checking everything — it becomes a box-ticking exercise and nobody really looks any more. Pick the three product groups with the most complaints or returns and build tight checks for those. After three months, measure whether complaints are falling.
