Situatie: u verkoopt producten waarvoor traceerbaarheid nodig is. Denk aan garantieafhandeling bij elektronica, houdbaarheidsdata in food, of een recall bij medische artikelen. De vraag 'welke batch heeft klant X ontvangen?' moet u binnen een minuut kunnen beantwoorden — niet na een middag spitten in pakbonnen.
Lotnummer of serienummer?
Odoo kent twee smaken tracking, en de keuze bepaalt hoeveel werk uw magazijn erbij krijgt:
- By Lots (lotnummer): één nummer voor een hele batch. Een importeur van olijfolie geeft elke pallet van 600 flessen één lotnummer. Weinig extra handelingen, prima voor food en de meeste handelsbedrijven.
- By Unique Serial Number (serienummer): elk stuk krijgt een eigen nummer. Nodig bij bijvoorbeeld laptops of machines, waar garantie per apparaat loopt. Meer scanwerk, maar volledige traceerbaarheid per stuk.
Zo zet u het aan
- Ga naar Voorraad → Configuratie → Instellingen en vink onder Traceerbaarheid de optie Lots & serienummers aan.
- Open het product en zet op het tabblad Voorraad het veld Tracering op Via lots of Via uniek serienummer.
- Vanaf nu vraagt Odoo bij elke ontvangst en levering verplicht om de nummers — vergeten kan dus niet.
Terugzoeken als het erop aankomt
Het rendement zit in het rapport Traceerbaarheid: open een lot via Voorraad → Producten → Lots/serienummers en klik op Traceerbaarheid. U ziet direct waar de batch nu ligt én aan welke klanten eruit geleverd is. Bij een recall belt u binnen tien minuten precies de juiste klanten — en niemand anders.
Praktische tip
Laat uw magazijnmedewerkers niet typen. Combineer tracking met de Odoo Barcode-app en een simpele handscanner: scannen is ruwweg drie keer sneller dan overtikken en elimineert typfouten in lange serienummers — en één verkeerd cijfer maakt uw hele traceerbaarheid waardeloos. Odoo offers two flavours of tracking, and the choice determines how much extra work your warehouse gets:
- By Lots: one number for an entire batch. An olive oil importer gives each pallet of 600 bottles a single lot number. Few extra handlings, ideal for food and most trading companies.
- By Unique Serial Number: every unit gets its own number. Needed for laptops or machines, for example, where warranty runs per device. More scanning, but full per-unit traceability.
How to switch it on
- Go to Inventory → Configuration → Settings and tick Lots & Serial Numbers under Traceability.
- Open the product and, on the Inventory tab, set Tracking to By Lots or By Unique Serial Number.
- From now on, Odoo requires the numbers on every receipt and delivery — so forgetting is not an option.
Finding it back when it matters
The payoff is in the Traceability report: open a lot via Inventory → Products → Lots/Serial Numbers and click Traceability. You immediately see where the batch is stored now and which customers received units from it. In a recall, you call exactly the right customers within ten minutes — and nobody else.
Practical tip
Do not let your warehouse staff type. Combine tracking with the Odoo Barcode app and a simple handheld scanner: scanning is roughly three times faster than typing and eliminates typos in long serial numbers — and one wrong digit makes your entire traceability worthless.
